A meeting place for Mass

A meeting place for Mass

“Carved in stone. A 9th-century sermon of saints, starlight, and sacred waters.  Standing the test of time—and Yorkshire weather.”

The Saxon Cross dates back to 9thC when Masham was the meeting place for Mass for the Monks of Jervaulx & Fountains. Possibly one of the reasons they chose to trade their sheep here. Beyond the graveyard a rather small bomb shelter is hidden.
