Priscilla Mary Warner (1905 - 1994) Painter, children’s author and Illustrator lived here.

Her notable works include Embroidery Mary (1948), which combined storytelling with embroidery lessons, and Biddy Christmas (1948). In the 1950s, she moved to Ripon, Yorkshire, and later to Masham, where she lived with her brother. Warner taught art at Ripon College and continued to create art and illustrations until her death in 1994.
